Social media, robots, and algorithms are drawing people into new forms of social relations with their devices, with other people, and, arguably, with themselves. What are the ethical consequences? Recent discussions in anthropology's 'ethical turn' encourage us to treat ethics not as a system of rules or abstract principles but as qualities that are immanent in the dynamics of self-other interactions and the visions of human flourishing they embody. Ethics in this view centers on two fundamental ethical questions: who are we to one another, and what manner of being are we?
